The collections picked up and reached Rs. 4.15 crore on Saturday, but fell down on Sunday to Rs. 3.7 crore, possibly because of the India-England nail-biter in Bangalore. The film’s first weekend figure stands at approx Rs. 11 crore nett. On the other hand, 7 Khoon Maaf is gasping its last breath. The film’s collections fell by 80 percent after the first week collection of Rs. 15 crore nett.

Though the response was more heartening in north India than elsewhere, the film is expected to perform well over the weekend and the coming weeks because it doesn’t any stiff competition at box office. <a name="more"></a> Vishal Bhardwaj’s much hyped 7 Khoon Maaf has turned out to be a colossal disappointment. It rounded off its first week with a collection of Rs. 15 crore nett. Likewise, Patiala House completed its two-week run at box office with a total business of Rs. 30.50 crore so far. It’s being labelled a flop. The coming month would see no big releases from Bollywood due to the ongoing cricket world cup and also because of the examinations in schools and colleges. It’s that time of the year when the box office goes into doldrums.

This is shockingly low for a superstar whose films used to open to packed houses just two years back. The reviews by critics are mixed and so is the audience reaction to the Nikhil Advani-directed film. Meanwhile, last week’s release Yeh Saali Zindagi rounded off its first week with a collection of Rs. 7.5 crore net. On the other hand, Madhur Bhandarkar’s Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji continued to slide down and did a business of Rs. 6 crore during its second week. The film’s collection so far is in the proximity of Rs. 27 crore. The coming Friday would see the release of Vishal Bhardwaj’s much awaited film 7 Khoon Maaf.

The movie is expected to collect Rs 6.50 crore approx in its first week. <a name="more"></a> Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji continues its run at the box office. Though the movie had mixed response it fared well in its first week with the collection of Rs 21 crore. But the collections are down by around 70% which is not good for the film. Coming to Aamir Khan’s production Dhobi Ghat, the movie did the business of Rs 1.25 crore approx in its second week. The two-week total now is of around Rs 13.75 crore. The movie is not a hit. Get ready for Akshay Kumar’s film Patiala House which is releasing coming Friday.

Though it’s decent till now, as per trade reports, a big jump and good second weekend is possible for the film because there are no major releases this week except Yeh Saali Zindagi. <a name="more"></a> Coming to Dhobi Ghat, the movie collected Rs 13 crore in its first week but saw a major drop on eighth day. The movie may have to struggle to touch the Rs 15 crore mark. This Aamir Khan production though not successful in India is well received at the overseas market. The film collected around $950,000 (Rs 4.25 crore) from all the overseas market that includes United Kingdom, North America, UAE and Australia. Another film that is doing extremely well overseas is Yamla Pagla Deewana. The collection of the movie has nearly touched $2.5 million (Rs 11.25 crore) from all markets. The movie is reportedly doing superb business in Canada which can be compared to the hits like Singh is Kinng, 3 Idiots and Mel Karade Rabba (Punjabi).

The film is more of an arthouse cinema and perhaps that’s why it fared shockingly low at box office compared with Aamir’s previous blockbusters. Meanwhile, the Deol storm is continuing unabated through North India as their film Yamla Pagla Deewana is on the cusp of touching the Rs. 50 crore mark after its two weeks at theatres.
